Project: ARTspace is pleased to present Reflection Point, a solo exhibition of works by NYC-based artist Paul Fabozzi. Reflection Point is an exhibition of paintings and works on paper that use specific locations inside the Museum of Modern Art—a structure that revels in shifting perspectives and surfaces—as a starting point for a series of dynamic works that investigate the relationship between spatial experience and perception. Drawing on architecture, movement, and memory, Fabozzi’s artistic practice explores how image making can construct a conscious connection to the physical world. “My approach to painting has made me feel more deeply the extent to which spatial experience is the basis of perception. These works stake a claim for the role that image making plays in constructing our conscious relationship to our surroundings and explore our need to establish deep connections to the physical world.” Works Fabozzi created for this exhibition were supported by a grant from the Café Royal Cultural Foundation.

Paul Fabozzi is a New York–based artist whose work has been widely exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Rome, Busan, and beyond. His work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the Weatherspoon Art Museum, San Diego Museum of Art, Neuberger Museum of Art, Frost Art Museum, Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, and the New York Public Library. He is a recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship and support from the Café Royal Cultural Foundation. Fabozzi is the editor of Artists, Critics, Context: Readings in and around American Art since 1945 (Prentice-Hall), a widely used anthology of contemporary art writings. Fabozzi currently serves as Professor of Fine Arts and Chair of the Department of Art and Design at St. John’s University in Queens, New York. He is also the Creative Director of Moves: Movimenti Creativi, a visiting artist residency program based in Lucera, Italy. He received his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and his BFA from Alfred University, with formative studies in Cortona and Siena, Italy.

Founded in 2011, Project: ARTspace is an interdisciplinary creative project space. Our organization programs events and exhibitions where curators and artists of all levels have the chance to meet, engage, and promote new collaborative projects.
